Campaigning for women's right to choose abortion since 1972
Embroidery by Vicky Potempa
This wonderful embroidery is displayed at WAAC events on every possible occasion.
Created by long time WAAC member Vicky Potempa in 2006, the embroidery specifically references the Howard government's Health Minister, Tony Abbott.
Abbott's notorious backroom 'deal's with anti-abortion extremist Senator Brian Harradine to deny Australian women access to RU486 ~ and how those deals would affect real women, are referenced in the embroidery.
The embroidery draws on images from the women's movement, as well as WAAC's herstory.
You can find out more about the various details of the embroidery by clicking on the photo gallery at right!
As the old saying goes ~ If men got pregnant, abortion would be a sacrament!
WAAC had the tapestry made into a poster so it could be more widely shared. The poster is available for sale at WAAC stalls from time to time.
